Our dental clinic is open and you can read our COVID-safe procedures here.
We have unfortunately had to temporarily stop our beauty treatments in line with Government regulations. All existing appointments will be rescheduled.
Tooth extraction is always the very last resort at our York practice. However, it is sometimes a necessary step when the tooth is diseased or when it is negatively impacting surrounding teeth.
In certain cases, teeth may need to be extracted if they are badly cracked or if disease has gone too far for root canal treatment to be effective. If your dentist does decide that tooth removal is needed, they will always try to plan for the replacement of the tooth prior to the extraction, enabling you to regain your healthy smile as soon as possible.
At Clifton Moor Dental Centre, our highly qualified oral surgeons can skilfully and painlessly extract problem teeth as a first step towards restoring your oral health.
I was referred to Dr. Holmes following a difficult extraction at my usual dentist. The tooth was expertly removed. I had lost confidence & was nervous but Dr. Holmes & his team made me feel at ease from walking through the door! I can highly recommend. Thank you for restoring my confidence.
Wisdom teeth can be problematic, as they often come in sideways, or ‘impacted’. When this occurs it can lead to infection, as well as encourage crowding, which can lead to orthodontic difficulties in the future. Our oral surgeons are highly-skilled at performing even the most complex extractions with care, to minimise the impact on surrounding teeth and gums and on your overall comfort.
Your tooth removal treatment will be carried out under local anaesthetic using gentle techniques. If it’s a particularly complex case, or if you’re a very anxious patient, we can offer conscious sedation, which helps you relax into a safe, dreamlike state. Our caring dental team at Clifton Moor Dental Centre will ensure you feel comfortable and safe during every stage of your treatment.
You should plan to rest for 24 hours after your extraction, to allow the tissues to start the healing phase. Your extraction site will be fully healed within one to two months, and then you and your dentist can progress with plans for replacing the lost tooth.

I had a recent tooth trauma to a visibly obvious tooth. I called the surgery and very luckily I managed to get a cancellation so was seen immediately by the amazing Nicola Perry. My tooth was replaced quickly and efficiently and the replacement is so much better than what I had before. The whole team at CM Dental Centre are incredibly efficient and friendly. The reception team are some of the friendliest I have come across nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend.
I highly recommend this dental practice. I have recently joined the practice as a patient. I have had four appointments, one being an emergency. Highly professional service from start to finish. The treatment was excellent. I was in a great deal of pain which was alleviated and the root canal treatment was painless and completed perfectly. I saw Shubh and Peri who did my treatments - fabulous, I can’t thank you enough.
